Herkimer diamonds are actually clear quartz, with an unusual crystal formation — they are double-terminated, meaning that they are found in nature with two pointed, faceted ends instead of the usual one. (For the geologists reading this, I apologize for the clumsy description.) To showcase their sparkle, I chose some faceted black onyx teardrops that have a brilliant luster all their own.
